A New Arrival

At 17:42 (that’s 5:42pm to you non 24h clock people) on the 2nd of August 2010 I was privileged to introduce to the world my son, Haydn Taylor Glavin.
Weighing in at 7lbs 15oz, all bits intact and a very healthy pair of lungs.

I’m so proud of my wife, Cassandra, who by following the Hypnobirthing method managed to go through the entire labour without pain relief.
She woke up this morning (7:30am ish) with surges (contractions) approximately 4 minutes apart, the birthing pool was filled at 14:30 (2:30) and 3 hours and 12 minutes later in our front room we met our son for the first time.

Ranvir and Will – Wedding – Sri Guru Singh Sabha Reading

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Ranvir and Will’s wedding at Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Reading.
A very early start and typically British weather were outweighed by the beautiful colours and details. Our couple time on a typical Reading main road was certainly different from the location that we had planned!

Lucy and Duncan – Beenham Church – Wedding

A very typical English Bank Holiday weekend saw the wedding of Lucy and Duncan.

With English weather you really never know what you are going to get, however most Bank Holidays pretty much guarantee that it is going to rain at some point!
Fortunately for Lucy and Duncan the predicted downpour managed to hold off until every one was safely ensconced in the marquee!

Personal – A visit for an Ultrasound

Last weekend had Cassandra and I at Baby Premier in Windsor for a 4D scan.

After a bit of protesting from my dear wife I was allowed to bring a camera with me although this has got her a little worried with what is going to happen at the birth!

The whole event was pretty amazing, being able to see what our little Doodle (long story and I think it’ll be stuck with it for life!) looked like and seeing what it was doing was just unreal, it’s something I’d really recommend. Obviously you are at the mercy of your little one as some decide not to play ball when they are being scanned, we were one of the lucky ones on the day!

Cath and Gregor – Wedding – Bearwood College

The Wedding of Cath and Gregor was held at North Harrow Methodist Church followed by a Reception at Bearwood College.
Helped by glorious but cold weather, great music, an impromptu unrehearsed performance from a scratch band staring the Bride and Groom and a first dance to a Christmas song, this really was a day to remember!

Finding a Wedding Photographer

If you’re reading this article then there is a fairly good possibility that you are either looking for a Wedding Photographer. If, like most, you’ve fired up Google and done a search for Wedding Photographers then you’ll be staring at approximately 31,000,000 results. If you narrow that down and search for counties then you’ll still be staring at a big number! Wedding Photographers Berkshire for example will return nearly 300,000 listings. So how do you narrow it down and find the ideal photographer for you?

When talking to prospective wedding photographers it really helps to have an idea of what you actually want from your wedding photography. Do you want a majority of candid photographs that tell the story of the day with the odd formal group, or would you prefer a large number of formal groups or a mixture of candid, fun and formal photographs?

When setting your wedding budget, strike a balance between cost and quality and choose an affordable wedding photographer who has a proven track record of capturing the romance and emotion of wedding events.

Once you have an understanding of what you are looking for it will make choosing a wedding photographer much easier.

Talk to your prospective photographers; ask if you can view a gallery or two of complete weddings, not just their favourites. Even though you are not looking at your wedding there should still be a connection.

Make sure you talk to your prospective wedding photographers and explain what you are looking for. Make sure that your styles match, it’s much better to do this early than receive your wedding photographs after your big day and realise that you don’t like what you’ve paid for.

Bear in mind that you will be spending a large portion of the day with your wedding photographer so make sure that you both get on as it will make all the difference!

Price is a consideration, but the least expensive photographer won’t be a bargain if your wedding photographs are a disappointment.

Joanna and Laurence – Wedding – The High Barn

I first met Jo at Kate and Andy’s Wedding in May, she is Andy’s Sister and was one of Kate’s Bridesmaids.

Jo and Laurence got married at St Michael’s Church and followed with their reception at the beautiful High Barn in Great Bardfield.

I started the day with Laurence so that I could get some time with the Groom in the morning before heading over to the their house to cover the Bridal Preps.

Laurence was getting ready and meeting up with the some of the guest at the Whitehall Hotel in Broxted.

Between the wind, rain and miserable weather Emma and Anthony somehow managed to secure blue skies and sunshine when they got married at Wokefield Park.

Sharon and Greg’s Wedding – Wentworth Club

A typical Autumn Saturday in leafy Berkshire, rain, grey skies and a little more rain. Fortunately the rain did nothing to dampen Sharon and Greg’s wedding at the Wentworth Club.
Happily the weather did brighten up later and Mr Blue Sky did make a brief appearance.
